On Sunday August 9th, in Cheyenne WY, we had the pleasure of being part of a wedding that was brimming with rustic elegance. Our day started early in the afternoon with that Wyoming sun emitting lots of heat. When we entered the property of the Wyoming Hereford Ranch we instantly knew today was going to be a beautiful wedding experience. The dust was rolling off the roads and the trees were lining the drive into the property. This led into the main and most beautiful moment of the day, meeting the bride, Elsa. We entered the building with her back to us, while she was finishing the final touches. Without even seeing her face she gave off a radiance that filled the room. As we started to shoot the gown, she filled us in on how that came to be her dress. It was not the dress she previously saw herself in but the more and more she looked at the mannequin the feeling it gave her was worth exploring and instantly when she put it on, she knew. It was the perfect dress for her. From the perfect amount of beading, the hint of sparkle, and off white color it was meant for Elsa. The girls continued to fill the building with laughs and stories as we continued to capture them getting ready for the big moment.
Next up-The Groomsmen! These guys were such a fun group and full of happiness for Bailey. They even encountered a loose horse on the property which gave all of us an adrenaline rush. As the bridal party spent time together waiting for the ceremony guests started to arrive.
Given the current year and circumstances, Elsa and Bailey have had to endure an insane amount of changes and challenges together. Seeing all their family and friends come to celebrate their love and fill the ceremony area was the best celebration of life we have experienced in a long time. The heat, the sun, not a single thing in the world mattered more at that moment. The guests all had smiles on their faces, laughing, and full of the purest love.
As Elsa and Baileys song started, the groom, full of smiles, walked his beautiful mother down the aisle. Following the rest of the wedding party, it was the moment everyone was waiting for. It was time to see Elsa. With the sun beating down on her beautiful dress, the area filled with smiles as Elsa locked eyes with her soon to be husband. The ceremony was the perfect mix of the two of them, classical elegance and easygoing fun. As they sealed their vows and kissed the moment they were announced husband and wife the ranch was filled with congratulatory praises.
The guests head to cocktail hour where they exchanged stories, ate some food, and caught up with some old friends. They anxiously awaited the bride and groom to begin the most anticipated part, celebrating! The food was first on our list and let me tell you they chose right, pizza and poppers from Alibi Wood Fire Pizza in Laramie! It was amazing and even for pizza the food presentation was perfect. After dinner, we took the newlyweds to get some special portraits of just the two of them. These are a few moments that they have with each other following the ceremony that we feel is SO important. It's a small moment of relaxation to reflect on the most amazing day of their lives. The GORGEOUS sunset helped with that too!
It was now time for toasts and so many loved ones had precious memories and reminisced about amazing times with the couple. Once the toasts concluded, The DJ, Will Luna, got the party started. The song choices were absolute perfection for the crowd.
As the reception continued, so did the events! We all watched magic happen as Elsa and Bailey took the dance floor to present their first dance as husband and wife. Their dance trickled into the mother son dance which filled the room with smiles from ear to ear. Following that was a specialty dance as well as the infamous dollar dance. The closing event was the iconic bouquet toss and then the groom went in for the garter. He got it off the bride and threw it to the single men quicker than I could say the word garter. To say this wedding was just what this year needed is an understatement. We were so honored to be able to capture a couple as honest and easily in love as these two. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. McHenry!
